DAY 1 

WELCOME TO ROME

Upon arrival into Rome Fiumicino Airport, proceed to the hotel on your own. If we all plan to arrive around the same time we will arrange a group transfer.

In the late afternoon, meet your English-speaking guide at the hotel and start your food walking tour through the flavors of the Roman cuisine in the popular and trendy Trastevere neighborhood. Walk through the most famous squares of the Eternal City, admire Baroque landmarks and learn more about the city’s great past and culinary traditions. Our tour includes several stops that will give you the chance to sip one of Rome’s best espressos at either Caffè Sant’Eustacchio or Tazza d’Oro, taste tozzetti cookies, fresh focaccia with mortadella, fried rice balls and other Roman delicacies.

DAY 2:

ROME

Today, you will enjoy a 3-hour shopping tour with our great guide. One of the best cities for shopping, Rome offers a great variety. Your private guide will bring you into the shopping district as well as some local artisans store. Let’s help each other add a special and memorable addition to our wardrobe. The afternoon is free to relax before our special evening.

In the evening, meet your English-speaking driver at the hotel lobby and transfer to the location of your exclusive dinner. A great opera singer will open her house for you and make you live an amazing culinary experience combined with opera music. Dinner will marry opera, food, and wine. While you dine, you will have the chance to discover the world of opera – a renowned Italian artform, alongside food, fashion and art.

DAY 3:

ROME TO ASCOLI PICENO

Your morning is at leisure for you to explore on your own. Or for those who might be interested, we will offer a 3-hour optional private tour of Ancient Rome or the Vatican with tickets and round-trip transfers.

In midafternoon, meet your English-speaking driver and start your journey by private minibus toward the Marche region. Upon arrival in Ascoli Piceno, check-into the reserved 4-star hotel.  The Piazza del Popolo is listed in the top 10 most beautiful squares in Italy. In the evening, enjoy your dinner in a typical restaurant in the center of the city.

DAY 4:

ASCOLI PICENO

In the morning, meet your guide at the hotel and enjoy a guided walking tour of Ascoli Piceno impressively beautiful historic center. You can admire important monuments from the Roman times such as the remains of the Theatre and the Augustan Bridge, but also numerous Romanesque buildings, including churches, ancient houses and powerful noble towers.

At the end of the tour, you will take a drive into the countryside. You will enjoy a wine tasting combined with a light lunch in a family-run estate and discover some of the best wines produced in the area like Passerina and Pecorino. While tasting these prestigious wines you will be amazed by the breathtaking view over the lands and hills of Ripatransone from the winery’s panoramic terrace. The estate, surrounded by fields and olive groves, also produces extra virgin olive oil and wheat.  Evening is at leisure.

DAY 5:

ASCOLI PICENO

In the morning, meet your English-speaking driver at the hotel and drive through the land of Italy’s most beautiful artisan shoes and bags. Marche is known for its leather craftmanship and artisans, producing 90% of all Italy’s shoes. Many are hidden in the hill-top towns (in the center of Marche near Fermo), family run businesses quietly making beautiful leather items for the big designer names. Along with our local assistant, you will visit some of these factories, learn about handcrafted production and maybe treat yourself by buying some beautiful and precious shoes.

At the end of the tour, you will drive to Grottammare, a small town that extends along the coast up to the slopes of the nearby hills where stands the ancient medieval village.

Here, you will enjoy a delicious lunch in a panoramic restaurant and the stunning view of the coast. Return to the hotel in Ascoli Piceno in the afternoon for an evening at leisure.

DAY 6:

ASCOLI PICENO TO ASSISI

Today, after breakfast and check-out, you will meet your driver at the lobby and transfer to the charming Umbria region.

Along the way, you will stop at Frasassi caves and discover its spectacular scenery with a private guide. Frasassi Caves, Italy's best caverns, were discovered in 1971 and part of them were opened to visitors in 1974. The huge rooms of the caverns are filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Highlights of the tour include the Ancona Abyss, a room so large that Milan's Duomo (the world's largest Gothic cathedral) could easily fit inside it, a crystallized lake, a Grand Canyon, and a room filled with formations that resemble candles. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours. Comfortable shoes and a sweatshirt or jacket are suggested as the temperature is about 57 Fahrenheit all year.

After the tour, you will drive to a famous old restaurant where you can taste some traditional dishes in a very intimate and authentic atmosphere.

Upon arrival in Assisi, check-into the reserved hotel located in the center of the city. Let’s walk to the square and have pizza as we people watch.

DAY 7:

ASSISI

Today, you will meet your private guide and enjoy a private half day tour of Assisi. Your guide, an art and history expert, will meet you in the city center of Assisi. Your first stop on this half day tour is the Basilica of St. Francis, painted by famous artists such as Giotto and Cimabue. You will then continue onto Piazza del Comune, dominated by the columns of the Temple of Minerva, a Roman temple-front from the Augustan age and to the Church of Santa Chiara. Inside this Basilica you will find more artistic treasures and frescoes as well as the sarcophagus of Saint Chiara in a below- ground crypt. As you walk along the maze of streets of the historic center, our guide will tell you more about the history of the town. Rest of day is at leisure to have fun strolling this charming town.  This evening we will have dinner in a local restaurant.

DAY 8:

ASSISI

In the morning, you will meet your driver at the hotel lobby and drive to Perugia for a 2-hour guided tour of the charming town. The monumental center of Perugia is the Piazza IV November, an important focal point of the city since ancient Etruscan and Roman times, the piazza is still the center of city life today. Your guide will show you the beautiful medieval fountain, Fontana Maggiore, in the center of the Piazza. It faces the wonderful Palazzo dei Priori, once the residence of the chief political authorities of the city and your next stop.

After the tour, you will enjoy a cooking class and lunch in the home of  Federica Spagnoli, one of the granddaughters of Luisa Spagnoli, who will tell the whole story of her famous grandmother, founder of the Perugina, and creator of Bacio Perugina, as well as one of the most famous fashion houses in the world. You will then have a guided tour of the Spagnoli Museum, where the whole life of this “unique” woman is represented.

At the end of this amazing experience, leave Perugia and head to a high-quality cashmere laboratory on the way back to Assisi.  Evening at leisure.

DAY 9:

ASSISI TO FLORENCE

After breakfast and check-out, meet your driver at the hotel lobby and start your journey to discover marvelous Tuscany. Along the way, you will stop in Vagliagli, near Siena, where you will get to know our great chef Andrea. Andrea is intensely passionate about using organic local ingredients from the land on which he has spent a lifetime honing his craft. Learn from Andrea how to choose the freshest ingredients and combine them to create mouthwatering dishes and enjoy your wonderful homemade lunch at the end accompanied by the wines of the area. This will be a very fun experience! Upon arrival in Florence, check-into the reserved hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 10:

FLORENCE

In the morning, meet your English-speaking driver in the hotel lobby and be ready for a very unique experience discovering the precious marble of Carrara, the stone used by Michelangelo and Bernini for their works of art. Reach the laboratory of a real sculptor and learn how to make your own marble work during a 3-hour marble class. With the help of your teacher you will learn how to carve your own marble tile with hammer and chisel and return home with your personal hand-made marble work. A local guide will help the sculptor to translate. Step one: protective glasses and gloves are provided. Step two: sketch on a marble tile whatever you like: an animal, a flower, a fantasy figure. Step three: the master of sculpting shows how to handle hammer and chisel in order to start removing the material around the drawing. Step four: start carving by yourself, if the sculptor judges you are good enough will let you even use power tools. Step five: smooth your marble work with emery and sand paper and, finally, sign it! After class, we have arranged a lunch nearby the laboratory so that you can taste the typical products of this area.

DAY 11:

FLORENCE

After breakfast, meet our guide at the hotel and be ready for a one of a kind experience among Florence artisans. Our expert English-speaking guide will escort you through the Florence of the artisans during a 4-hour walking tour. You will have the chance to visit mosaic and jewelry workshops as well as the famous Scuola del Cuoio, a family workshop and the leather school founded by the Gori family after the WWII. The Gori family still owns this amazing place where they teach the old techniques to international students. In the workshop, they have a prestigious collection of leather handbags, jackets, wallets. Shall we shop?

Your afternoon is at leisure. We will meet tonight for a memorable farewell dinner.

Optional for Today:

For those who haven’t been to Florence before, we can include afternoon tickets and skip the line reservation for the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most famous gallery in the world, hosting some among the most magnificent and invaluable works of art, such as Botticelli’s Allegory of Spring and the Birth of Venus.

Another option is a 4-hour private tour of the Best of Florence including a visit of the Accademia Gallery where you can admire the famous Michelangelo’s David. During your tour, you will also enjoy some tasting at the local market and discover the Tuscan culinary tradition.

ARRIVEDERCI, ITALIA!

Having had many memorable moments together, it is time to say goodbye to our new friends. Independent transfer to the airport or a group transfer depending again on your flight
